Very few possibilities of obtaining international aid money soon, Tom Flature – eSHOP24X7

UN HUMANITARY ASSISTANCE COORDINATION AGENCATION: The Ocha Chief, Tom Flature, is on a visit to Afghanistan these days and while talking on Thursday, he said that he can see the serious impact of the lack of money, the serious impact on the common people.

Speaking with the news of the UN of Afghanistan, he said he spoke about the participation of women in humanitarian aid efforts with the officials of the Calibanos and their education rights. I expected this conversation to move towards a positive change.

This interview has been edited for the sake of brevity and precision:

UN news: you said that the political leaders who have approved the cut of aid should reach Afghanistan and see the effects themselves. Does it use a clean and clear language with them in private conversations?

Tom Flature: Yes, the real impact has been appearing for some time, but 400 clinics have already been closed here. NGOs are eliminating half of their staff, and local NGOs have been more affected. Due to these money cuts, people will die. This is the biggest tragedy.

UN news: How is the reaction of leaders?

Tom Flature: There are two types of leaders: one, which makes difficult decisions under compulsion due to the economic crisis and the pressure of taxpayers, understand well the importance of human efforts. And the other leaders who are unfortunately proud of assistance aid. I want to introduce the mother of this second class to the mother who lost her son because she had to travel for three hours and a difficult trip when she ride a bicycle to get to the hospital during her pregnancy.

A good leadership is the one that reaches the root of the problems and finds solutions. We have to mold our ways to reach different groups and be firmly in the defense of our actions. The human community has taken millions of people from poverty and saved innumerable lives, we are proud of it.

UN news: You have become the emergency relief of the prominent UN at a difficult time. In February, he announced a 20% cut in the budget of his department. How will you deal with it?

Tom Flature: This is really difficult. This whole area can be reduced to approximately one third, and there is also the possibility of more daggers. We will look for new partners and try to connect the private sector too, so that the nature of the discussion about “solidarity” can be changed. We have to work with this new situation we have, not what we want.

I am optimistic about discussions with Senator Marco Rubio who focus on protecting the help of life, and I want to understand what the United States can have to save lives from people around the world, what is their approach for this.

UN news: Given the current situation, should we think again what is the true meaning of ‘help’ and how should the need for money be satisfied for this?

Tom Flature: Absolutely. We are going through a period of a “human restructuring.” We are getting smaller in size, but the effort is to have at least the impact on the work of salvation of life. In addition, we are moving towards greater efficiency. I started the efficiency campaign throughout the sector from day one. The Permanent Inter-Agent Committee (IASC) has reduced bureaucracy, ending departmental conflicts and has noticed the land, local level effects.

UN news: Many member countries still believe in the importance of international assistance?

Tom Flature: Yes, despite economic pressures, many donors are still committed, and we are observing some new countries that arise, especially in Gulf and China countries, where cooperation is increasing. We no longer want to depend on governments, so they are trying to include the private sector and common citizens in this cooperation.

UN news: In Afghanistan, Taleban has imposed serious restrictions on the education and employment of women. Is it possible to interact with Taleban?

Tom Flature: Yes. There are two main things in these conversations. First, we cannot provide human help, without the help of women, they are the backbone of our work. Second, the generalized issue of women’s rights, especially education, is very important. This right has been removed from millions of girls in the last three years. These conversations are difficult, but as Pre -Diplomat, I believe that dialogue is necessary despite the respectable dialogue, the desire to listen and cultural and ideological differences.

UN news: Before assuming this position, was a clear objective for your mandate?

Tom Flature: Yes. First of all, I remain in this publication for so long that I can really have some effect, because in such a challenging job, continuity is very important.

Secondly, I started working with a clear objective to improve the humanitarian aid system, making it more effective and bringing them closer to those we serve. And the most important thing is that my whole approach is to save people’s lives, we should show all our work with this standard.
