UN Initiative 80: What is and why is it important for the world? – eSHOP24X7
According to the Secretary General of Policies at the UN and UN80, the main cows pilot said that it is the time of introspection, both the United Nations and multilateralism are going through difficult times.
The purpose of the UN80 initiative is not only to increase functionality, but also to strengthen multilateralism between the decrease in trust and the increase in needs. This initiative is an attempt to allow the UN to face challenges such as climatic crisis, displacement, inequality and technical changes.
“This will arise as a more competent and more safe united nation, which will be completely prepared to face future challenges,” Cow Rider said.

Three forms of improvement
The Un80 initiative focuses on three main functions. The purpose of the first current is to increase internal efficiency and effectiveness, including the reduction of red Lacestashi and transfer certain tasks to low -cost service stations, which makes the United Nations more favorable. According to the cows pilot, the main approach is being given to end unnecessary administrative processes and repetition.
He said: “We want to know what we can do better, what are the areas where we can increase efficiency and put an end to unnecessary bureaucracy processes.”
The second is the ‘implementation review of the mandate’, under which around 4,000 mandate documents are reviewed the basis of the United Nations Secretariat. The ‘mandate’ refers to the tasks or responsibilities assigned to the organization, under the proposals approved by the United Nations organs such as the General Assembly or the Security Council.
In which the United Nations areas will work, whether peace establishment campaign, humanitarian aid, protecting human rights or climatic action, all this is decided by these mandates. Around 40,000 of these mandates have been deposited in the years, many of which have been repeated or became irrelevant over time. For this reason, its integral review is an important part of the UNA80 initiative.
Cow Rider said: “Let’s review these mandates: see where there is repetition, where preferences can be determined and in which the areas of unnecessary elements can be eliminated.”
But it is not that these mandates are reviewed for the first time. He said: “We had also tried to look at these huge mandates in 2006, but that effort could not succeed.”
He said: “But this time the process has made a significant change. We now have better data and analysis skills. We can provide more organized and informed information to member countries using technologies such as artificial intelligence, which can lead to more effectively.”
However, he emphasized that the final decision to continue, review or abolish a mandate is in the hands of member countries.
“These rights are completely under the member countries: they have created these mandates, and only they can evaluate them. We can gather tests, present analysis and give recommendations, but will eventually make all decisions related to UN mandates and initiatives.”
The third place of work focuses on the structural reforms and the restructuring of the programs are necessary throughout the United Nations system.
Cow Rider says: “Finally, we would like to pay attention to the broad and complex structure of the United Nations system, which has become necessary to make balanced and more effective over time.” Some proposals in this direction can also be revealed under the revision of mandate implementation.

Labor Force and General Systemic Approach
With the aim of improving this complex system, the Secretary General has established seven thematic groups under the workforce UN80. Each of these is being directed by senior officials of the United Nations system. These groups include peace and security, humanitarian aid, development (UN Secretariat and Integral System), Human Rights, Training and Research and Special Agencies.
The president of the UNA80 workforce said: “It is noteworthy that when the pressure on the system arrives, he reacts in an integrated way, as a complete system. It is not only limited to New York or Secretariat, but it is an integral effort associated with the entire United Nations system.”
It is expected that all groups prepare a specific proposal to improve coordination methods, reduce scattered jobs and redistribute responsibilities. Many groups have already given their initial suggestions, and a detailed proposal will be presented based on them in July.

No contraction, improvement
The meditation on the UNA80 initiative has focused mainly on the deduction of the proposed budget and reducing the number of employees, which has led to the apprehension that it is only an exercise to reduce the cost. But Cow Rider considers this incomplete thought and says that this leads to error by understanding the generalized objective of this initiative.
He says: “Yes, we are facing financial challenges, and there is no need to ignore it. But this initiative is not limited to reducing costs or reducing the number of employees. Its objective is to build a more competent and more effective United Nations system.”
However, the increase in financial pressure on the United Nations system cannot be ignored. The 2026 reviewed program that will be presented in September can indicate the budget, the financing of the institutions of the Secretariat and the significant deduction in the positions. This situation is the result of the cash crisis that arises from the timely or completely financial contribution of member countries.
The cows pilot explained: “The objective of the Un80 initiative is to strengthen multilateralism and the effectiveness of the United Nations. We definitely want the circumstances to be different, but this does not mean that we can avoid a serious review of the resources present in different parts of our budget and system.”
He said: “Institutions have to make some very difficult decisions, and this is happening every day. This is the truth of our situation.”
Cow Rider believes that the impact of stability and financial missions is not the option with each other, but complement, and it is necessary to move both. He said: “In these challenging circumstances we have to balance between these two objectives: remain financially sustainable and, on the other hand, fully conscious and committed to effectively fulfill our responsibilities under the Charter of the United Nations.”

Why a80 is important for people around the world
The UN 80 is not only an administrative reform, but a concentrated public initiative, which is associated with those that depend on the support of the United Nations during the challenges of the crisis, the struggle or development.
Cow Rider says: “If the United Nations can change themselves and, sometimes, make a difficult decision, it is able to move towards reform, then its direct effect will be that our efforts that save lives can reach those more effective and rapid people, which we serve.”
The United Nations remains a unique and essential platform for peace, sustainable development and universal human rights for the universal. “
He said: “It is proof that the United Nations takes their responsibilities towards people.”
Currently, the United Nations provides assistance to more than 13 million displaced people, deliver food to more than 12 million people, vaccinate more than half of the children in the world and support the installation of peace, human rights, electoral processes and climate action worldwide. Their development programs have played an important role in the creation of peaceful and stable societies.

That will happen later
The workforce of the UN80 will present its proposal to the Secretary General, which has already shared the scheme of the main areas where concrete results are expected. Under the leadership of the general secretary Catherine Pollard, a working group is expected to present an initial suggestion focused on the efficiency of the United Nations Secretariat.
A report will be presented in the review of the implementation of the mandate at the end of July. This task carried out under the first two functions will be useful to address possible structural reforms in the United Nations system and an integral approach to the rehabilitation of the program. Proposals related to the third work will be carried out before member countries during the coming months and next year.
Although this process is currently in the initial stage, the cows pilot believes that the United Nations not only have the necessary resources and equipment for this, but also has a clear understanding of ambition and need.
He said: “Our progress is satisfactory. At this time, work continues with a comprehensive preparation and background. In the coming weeks, this process will go to the court of member countries as the responsibility of making decisions, and from here we will begin to see concrete results.
Finally, it will depend on member countries how they want to take measures on these findings. They have to decide what they want to take measures: would you like to establish an intergovernment process? The general secretary has already indicated this possibility.

Definition of success
So how will success be judged?
Cow Rider says: “Success will be found when we will not only have a United Nations system that works more effectively, but also strengthens confidence in multilateral cooperation. A system that can give a clear message to public opinion and those that policy manufacturers are invested, and this is the most appropriate option to face future challenges.”
According to the president of the workforce of the UN80, everything depends on credibility, capacity and public trust. In addition, to ensure that the United Nations remains not only relevant, but also mandatory.
He said: “We should all worry about it. If we believe that the most effective means to deal with global challenges is polymorphism, then we have to make sure to give a new aspect to this system, train it and make its functionality to its complete possibilities.”
