The UN Chief, remembering his experience in the dictatorship in Portugal, asked that countries follow international laws and “constantly and universally protect” human rights, even if it is uncomfortable to do so.

‘A moral crisis’

At the same time, he also emphasized the need to take immediate, solid and irreversible steps towards solutions from two countries.

The Secretary General also discussed other wars, such as Sudan and the invasion of Russia of Ukraine and requested the “justified and permanent peace” based on the UN letter, international law and related proposals.

Growing dictatorship

The Secretary General appreciated the decades of Amnesty International, appreciating as “mandatory” for the global human rights movement.

This was the first time that a UN Secretary General went to the global General Assembly of Amanty International.

He described the courage and continuity of the organization as a change carrier and asked to continue the struggle for human rights.

Amanty International, established in 1961, has played an important role in the creation of international human rights laws and systems, in collaboration with the UN.
